Full biography Dave Klodowski is a New York City–based music director, pianist, vocal coach, singer and songwriter originally from Binghamton, New York. On the New York stage, Dave has played for the Off-Broadway revivals of Little Shop of Horrors (Sub Conductor/Pianist) at the Westside Theatre (directed by Michael Mayer) and Fiddler on the Roof at Stage 42/National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (directed by Joel Grey). He served as Music Director for the Off-Broadway premieres of Platinum Dreams at The York Theatre Company and The Sustain at Theatre Now New York. He has also toured with the Broadway productions of Kinky Boots, Elf the Musical and Escape to Margaritaville. Dave's regional credits include music directing Hansel and Gretel at Barrington Stage Company and School of Rock at Northern Stage, as well as serving as Vocal Director and Associate Music Director for Phantom at The Gateway Playhouse. In the educational sphere, he has music directed productions of Putting It Together at Pace University, The Last Five Years at Columbia University and several musicals at The Hewitt School in Manhattan. Dave has also collaborated with Broadway artists on solo concerts including Alex Newell at the LGBT Center Gala and Kathryn Allison at the Legacy Theatre. Additionally, he has contributed to the development of new musicals such as Hood (Asolo Rep, directed by Mark Brokaw), A Transparent Musical (Center Theatre Group, directed by Tina Landau), The Jack of Hearts Club (Tom Kirdahy Productions, directed by Leda Hoffman) and Every Wednesday Night (Abingdon Theatre Company, directed by Chad Austin). As a performer, Dave has sung as a principal vocalist on Seabourn Cruise Line and headlined with a cappella groups aboard Disney, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean ships. He is co-founder and baritone of zephyr, a six-person a cappella group based in New York. In 2021, he began writing and producing original children’s music under the name “Davey K” alongside his husband, Peter Yang. The duo rebranded as “Davey & Peter” in 2024. Their song “8 Planets” has garnered over 5 million YouTube views and attracted more than 10,000 subscribers. Dave earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Ithaca College, where he performed in the Ithaca College Choir, mainstage operas and male a cappella group Ithacappella. He continued his training at OperaWorks in Los Angeles. With an extensive knowledge of vocal pedagogy and musical styles, he maintains a thriving private coaching studio and is a member of The Recording Academy and Local 802 AFM. Instagram @daveklodowski |
