ABOUT

Davey K's debut album Things to Know originated from the closing track "Things That Go", written by Davey K and Peter Yang for Davey's 2-year-old nephew who absolutely loves cars, trains, planes and everything in between. The reception was overwhelmingly positive and Davey came to the realization that there's a great opportunity to write educational and fun pop music for kids. And so, Things to Know was born! The songs cover topics from the planets in our solar system to the creatures in our oceans. Styles range from funk to pop rock. This album is geared towards kids ages 2-7, however, listeners of all ages will certainly enjoy these bouncy and captivating songs!

8 Planets

There are 8 planets in the Solar System and they all orbit the Sun
4.6 billion years ago was when this had all begun
There’s Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter
Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury, these are the planets

Neptune is the furthest from the sun
It’s dark, cold and the windiest one
4 times wider than Earth, whoa!
It’s an ice giant but there isn’t any snow

The 7th planet from the sun is Uranus
With 27 moons, isn’t that the insane-est?
Tilted, lilted, tipped on its side
Now are Neptune and Uranus demystified?

8 planets in the Solar System so many for us to explore
Come along sing this song with us and you’ll learn so much more
Let’s sing about Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter
Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury, these are the planets

Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun
It’s massive in size but it doesn’t weigh a ton
because it’s mostly gas, so you’ll pass right though
Let’s dance on Saturn’s rings just me and you

Jupiter’s bigger than all the others combined
It’s also the planet where you will find
a storm that’s been raging for a few hundred years
That’s not my ideal atmosphere

8 planets in the Solar System and you’re about to know them all
We’ve sung about the bigger planets, now let’s sing about the small
The planets are Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter
Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury, these are the planets

The 4th planet from the Sun is Mars
It looks red up in the sky against all the stars
Half the size of Earth, it’s cold and dusty
And in the soil iron’s making it rusty

We live on planet Earth and it’s number 3
Made of 30% land, the rest of it is sea
We breathe the oxygen in our atmosphere
If we keep our planet clean the air will stay clear

Now one more verse for Earth ‘cause this is our home
A cautionary tale about the Ozone
So much pollution has trapped the Sun’s rays
Heating up the Earth like a microwave

8 planets in the Solar System all scattered across the sky
Get yourself a telescope and join the fun and see them with your own 2 eyes
There’s Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter
Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury, these are the planets

The hottest planet Venus enters the fray
Its slow rotation gives it the longest day
We call it Earth’s twin ‘cause it’s similar in size
And it’s the brightest in the sky to our naked eyes

Mercury is the closest to the Sun
It’s the smallest and fastest when all is said and done
It takes 88 days to complete a full orbit
Now those are all the planets I hope you’ve absorbed it

8 planets in the Solar System and they all orbit the Sun
4.6 billion years ago was when this had all begun
There’s Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter
Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury, these are the planets

8 planets in the Solar System and they all orbit the Sun
4.6 billion years ago was when this had all begun
There’s Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter
Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury, these are the planets
The planets!

Fruits and Veggies

Fruits and veggies
Protect your health with fruits and veggies
If you want to feel good
Just like I knew you would
Fruits and veggies like
Apples and sweet potatoes
Pumpkins, green beans,
Blueberries and red tomatoes

Let’s start with some citrus fruits
Oranges, lemons, grapefruits and limes
Stone fruits have a pit at the core
Like apricots and cherries, peaches and so much more

Fruits and veggies
Protect your health with fruits and veggies
If you want to feel good
Just like I knew you would
Fruits and veggies like
Apples and sweet potatoes
Pumpkins, green beans,
Blueberries and red tomatoes

Now let’s name some leafy green vegetables
Spinach, lettuce, watercress and kale
Cruciferous veggies got that vitamin C
Like cauliflower, cabbage, bok choy and broccoli

Fruits and veggies
Protect your health with fruits and veggies
If you want to feel good
Just like I knew you would
Fruits and veggies like
Apples and sweet potatoes
Pumpkins, green beans,
Blueberries and red tomatoes

Snacking on berries is good for you
With antioxidants galore
Root veggies grow down in the ground
Like onions and potatoes or carrots bought by the pound

So many textures and flavors that taste so right
We’re gonna eat ‘em all day all night

Fruits and veggies
Eat ‘em all up your fruits and veggies
If you want to feel good
Just like I knew you would
Fruits and veggies like
Apples and sweet potatoes
Pumpkins, green beans,
Blueberries and red tomatoes

Fruits and veggies
Protect your health with fruits and veggies
If you want to feel good
Just like I knew you would
Fruits and veggies like
Apples and sweet potatoes
Pumpkins, green beans,
Blueberries and red tomatoes

My Kind of Doggy

That’s my kind of doggy
That’s my kind of doggy
That’s my kind of doggy
That’s my kind of doggy

Playful, curious and cheerful
Is a Bichon Frise, they’ll want to play with you all day
Charming, gentle and affectionate
Are the traits of a Maltese, they’ll put your mind at ease

That’s my kind of doggy
They’re short, white and fluffy
That’s my kind of doggy
They’re short, white and fluffy

Smart, courageous and confident
German Shepherds are the kind of dog you see in a police car
Friendly, patient and dependable
Are a Great Dane’s qualities, and they always aim to please

That’s my kind of doggy
They’re big and a toughie
That’s my kind of doggy
They’re big and a toughie

Independant, cute and spirited
A Scottish Terrier has a long snout and black fur
Active, humorous and fearless
An Affenpinscher’s face looks like a monkey’s any place

That’s my kind of doggy
They’re small, black and scruffy
That’s my kind of doggy
They’re small, black and scruffy

Major Cities of the World

Around the world, you see people living in harmony
With much diversity, in a place called a city
They go about their day doing things their own way in
Places where rooms are small and buildings are so tall

Half of the world’s population lives in them
Hustling and bustling from AM to PM
Cultures and languages are unique to each one
We’re gonna travel ‘round, come on now let’s have some fun!

Sing it with me as we learn about
Major Cities of the World
Scattered throughout the globe you will find
Major Cities of the World

Beijing, China
New York, USA
Cairo, Egypt
Tokyo, Japan
Mumbai, India
Sydney, Australia
London, England
São Paulo, Brazil

In Beijing, you must see The Great Wall and all its history
New York is quite the town, you can take the subway up or down
In Cairo, you will find some pyramids if you’re inclined
Then visit Tokyo and the cherry blossom festival

Mumbai is where they film Bollywood movies
Surfing the waters of Sydney sounds groovy
In London, you can hear Big Ben ringing loud and clear
São Paulo’s the largest city in the southern hemisphere

Sing it with me as we learn about
Major Cities of the World
Scattered throughout the globe you will find
Major Cities of the World

Moscow, Russia
Seoul, South Korea
Rome, Italy
Madrid, Spain
Lagos, Nigeria
Jakarta, Indonesia
Mexico City, Mexico
Istanbul, Turkey
Woo!

In Russia’s Moscow, see the Kremlin in all its glory
When you’re in Seoul, you can eat galbi and be a KPOP stan
In Rome, you must discover The Colosseum with your lover
Then, in Madrid, go out to Puerta del Sol and walk about

Lagos is booming on Africa’s west coast
You’ll love Jakarta’s great Istiqlal Mosque the most
Mexico City has foods like tacos al pastor
Go visit Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia, then explore

We all come from different places
But we’re all the same inside
This planet’s big enough for all of us
So let’s come together and help each other now

Sing it with me as we learn about
Major Cities of the World
Scattered throughout the globe you will find
Major Cities of the World

Sing it with me as we learn about
Major Cities of the World
Scattered throughout the globe you will find
Major Cities of the World

Bugs!

Bugs! They’re all around us
Some of them crawl and some of them fly
Bugs! They’re busy working every day and night
Spinning webs, digging tunnels, pollinating flowers, oo whoa

They’re not gonna hurt us
They just wanna live their lives like you and me
So don’t be afraid of them
They’re trying their best so let’s just let them be

Bugs! They’re all around us
Some of them crawl and some of them fly
Bugs! They’re busy working every day and night
Butterflies, ladybugs and crickets and mosquitoes, oo whoa

Caterpillars change bodies
They go through a metamorphosis, you see
Some other bugs, they make honey
It must be sweet to be a honey bee

Fireflies sparkle in the night
When it’s dark they give off that twinkly light
Grasshoppers can jump and fly
Their hind legs launch them into the air so high

Bugs! They’re all around us
Some of them crawl and some of them fly
Bugs! They’re busy working every day and night

Think of all the interesting bugs you see
Bumblebees, cockroaches and ants
Froghoppers, dragonflies and beetles, too
Thinking of how cool they are makes me want to dance

Bugs! They’re all around us
Some of them crawl and some of them fly
Bugs! They’re busy working every day and night

Bugs! They’re all around us
Some of them crawl and some of them fly
Bugs! They’re busy working every day and night
Oh Bugs!

In the Ocean

Think about the ocean
It covers most of our planet
And all the creatures that live in its waters so deep
Sharks and whales and sea lions, too
So much beauty in waters so blue
Underneath the waves they swim through the sea

In the ocean, the dolphins dive
The marlins and otters and starfish all thrive
It’s so great to see the sea creatures living wild and free
In the ocean

Lobsters are a type of crustacean
And sponges eat through filtration
Stingrays and sawfish and skates are all cartilaginous fish
Octopuses and squid change their shape
They fit into tight spaces to hide or escape
Oysters, clams and mussels are mollusks, you see

In the ocean, the manta rays glide
The turtles and hermit crabs roll with the tide
It’s so great to see the sea creatures living wild and free
In the ocean

It’s so amazing what lingers below
Blue whales and flounders and fishes that glow
Most of the ocean is undiscovered and unexplored
We have so much to learn, when I’m on land I yearn for

The ocean, so vast and so wide
Just get on a boat, let the waves be your guide
It’s so great to see the sea creatures living wild and free

In the ocean, right where they belong
They’ve lived there for centuries all along
It’s so great to see the sea creatures living wild and free
In the ocean, in the ocean

Things That Go

We’re gonna sing a song about things that go
Sing along!

Things that go, these are things that go
Cars and trains and planes and boats
You can take a ride, we’ll be right by your side
As we sing about things that go

The mail truck delivers our mail to us
The tractor is used on a farm
The tow truck moves disabled cars
And the fire engine keeps people safe from harm

The bullet train goes super fast
The subway goes underground
The taxi cab will pick you up on the street
And the airplane’s propellers spin ‘round and ‘round

Things that go, these are things that go
Cars and trains and planes and boats
You can take a ride, we’ll be right by your side
As we sing about things that go

The jet flies smoothly up in the sky
The helicopter hovers above
The sailboat moves with just the wind
And the cement mixer’s a truck that I know you love

The cruise ship can carry a lot of folks
While the kayak holds usually one
The rocket ship goes into outer space
And riding a bicycle is so much fun

Things that go, these are things that go
Cars and trains and planes and boats
You can take a ride, we’ll be right by your side
As we sing about things that go

The school bus drives kids off to school
The garbage truck gets rid of our trash
The crane lifts heavy things up in the air
And the jet ski on the water makes quite a splash

The freight train carries cargo across the rails
The tractor trailer drives on the highway
The fishing boat’s where you’ll find Grandpa Mike
And the car is something that you see every day

Things that go, these are things that go
Cars and trains and planes and boats
You can take a ride, we’ll be right by your side
As we sing about things that go.

Things that go, these are things that go
Cars and trains and planes and boats
You can take a ride, we’ll be right by your side

As we sing about mail trucks, rocket ships and tow trucks
Subway cars and jet skis, kayaks, planes and sailboats
cruise ships, helicopters, taxi cabs and tractors
Let’s sing about things that go!

Witches

You might think they ride on brooms
Wearing silly black hats with capes and boots
Pointy noses and sickly green skin
With tangled hair that’s long and thin

But real witches dress in ordinary clothes
Have ordinary jobs, live in ordinary homes
Feet with square ends, they’ve no toes at all
And witches wear wigs, ‘cause their heads are bald

They have a sizzling, burning hatred of children
Murderous, bloodthirsty thoughts
Which child will they choose for their next squelching?

Witches of the world, come together
Tonight is your night, gonna give a fright
Tread softly, move quietly, let’s take over the night
Give every child reason to fear
‘Cause we’re gonna make ‘em all disappear!

Tread softly, move quietly
A witch never gets caught
Is it an ordinary woman, or a witch?

These children, oh, they’re so repulsive!
Every one of them smells like dogs’ droppings
They cry and snivel and yell and whine
Can’t ever keep them in line
They make me go insane!

Hush now, it’s the Grand High Witch!
She’s always plotting, scheming
She wants to hear them screaming
She has come to teach us how to exterminate these kids!

Witches, these children have
Plagued this world since the beginning of time
Join me, my sisters, let’s finish the job
A world without children would be so sublime!

Witches of the world, come together
Tonight is your night, gonna give a fright
Tread softly, move quietly, let’s take over the night
Give every child reason to fear
‘Cause we’re gonna make ‘em all disappear!

These children smell terrible
Witches, let’s go!

Hermit Crab Conga

Listen very close and I will teach you
About a phenomenon at the beach
Do you know the creature that carries its home on its back?
A hermit crab

For you, a home is a house, but for a crab, it’s a shell
And it’s, oh, so important to wear it well
‘Cause their shell protects them from predators and the hot sun

Step right up
Get in line
Big to small
You’re doing fine

Hermit crabs, when you’ve grown too big for your shell
Take it off, do this dance and then
Tell the crab behind you the shell is theirs now
And that they’re looking swell

Hermit crabs, do the hermit crab conga
Sing along as we sing-a this song-a
Upgrade your shell and you'll be strong-a
And do the hermit crab conga

Come on all you hermit crabs, get in line
Soon it will be time for the shell exchange
You don’t wanna miss this chance to upgrade

You’re growing every day now your home is tight
Come down to the beach we’re gonna dance the night away
We gotta organize, line up yourselves by size

Step right up
Get in line
Big to small
You’re doing fine

Hermit crabs, when you’ve grown too big for your shell
Take it off, do this dance and then
Tell the crab behind you the shell is theirs now
And that they’re looking swell

Hermit crabs, do the hermit crab conga
Sing along as we sing-a this song-a
Upgrade your shell and you'll be strong-a
And do the hermit crab conga

It’s so fun to be a crustacean
This is a hermit crab nation
All my crabs let’s get in formation
For the shell exchange sensation

Hermit crabs, when you’ve grown too big for your shell
Take it off, do this dance and then
Tell the crab behind you the shell is theirs now
And that they’re looking swell

Hermit crabs, do the hermit crab conga
Sing along as we sing-a this song-a

Upgrade your shell and you'll be strong-a
And do the hermit crab conga
do the hermit crab conga
the hermit crab conga

Chocolate Chip Cookie

This is how you make a chocolate chip cookie
We’re gonna bake an ooey gooey treat
Yum so yummy I’m lovin’ this cookie
The perfect combination of savory and sweet

Now, let’s gather our ingredients
Here is what we’ll need

Two and a quarter cups of flour
Half a teaspoon of table salt
One teaspoon of baking soda
And one cup of softened butter

Three quarter cups of granulated sugar
Three quarter cups of brown sugar
One large egg and a teaspoon of vanilla
And two cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips

This is how you make a chocolate chip cookie
We’re gonna bake an ooey gooey treat
Yum so yummy I’m lovin’ this cookie
The perfect combination of savory and sweet

Now, let’s put it all together
Here’s how to proceed

Set your oven to three seventy-five
Make sure that temperature is in Fahrenheit
Mix the flour, salt and baking soda
Together in a bowl and set it aside

In a larger bowl, beat the softened butter
And both of the sugars with a mixer
Beat in the egg and the extract of vanilla
Until it looks smooth, oh so smooth

This is how you make a chocolate chip cookie
We’re gonna bake an ooey gooey treat
Yum so yummy I’m lovin’ this cookie
The perfect combination of savory and sweet

Now, it’s time to do the final steps
Follow them and you’ll succeed

Stir in the flour mixture ‘til it’s blended
Stir in the chocolate chips, oh so splendid
Place the rounded dough balls on a cookie sheet
Then bake for nine minutes, they’re gonna feel the heat

Let them cool for two minutes before we attack
Transfer them onto a cooling rack
They’re gonna taste sweet I guarantee
Now look at what we’ve made: a chocolate chip cookie!

This is how you make a chocolate chip cookie
We’re gonna bake an ooey gooey treat
Yum so yummy I’m lovin’ this cookie
The perfect combination of savory and sweet

Hot Air Balloon

Let’s go for a ride in a hot air balloon
The skies are clear and the winds are calm
And the sun is shining bright
I always wanted to be so high up in the sky
So let’s go for a ride in a hot air balloon

We’ll get some friends together and go to the field
Where we’ll see the huge balloon flat on the ground
We’ll use a giant fan to fill it up with air
And soon it will be big and round

Let’s go for a ride in a hot air balloon
The skies are clear and the winds are calm
And the sun is shining bright
I always wanted to be so high up in the sky
So let’s go for a ride in a hot air balloon

Turn on the fire once the balloon starts to inflate
The hot air is what causes it to rise
Hop in the basket, there’s room for everyone
Get in quick, we’re taking to the skies

Everything looks so small down there
All the way up here in the air
Turn around look over your shoulder
You can see the next town over
Rivers, mountains, acres of trees
Birds flying by riding the breeze
All around there’s so much to see

Let’s go for a ride in a hot air balloon

Let’s go for a ride in a hot air balloon

The skies are clear and the winds are calm
And the sun is shining bright
I always wanted to be so high up in the sky
So let’s go for a ride
Let’s go for a ride in a hot air balloon
a hot air balloon
a hot air balloon
